On 25 June 2026, the fifth meeting of the Monitoring Committee of the Interreg NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova Programme 2021–2027 took place in Chisinau.
The main purpose of the meeting was to review the Programme’s implementation progress and approve the projects selected under Specific Objective 3.1 – Better Cooperation Governance.
The Committee members also discussed the future of cooperation beyond 2027 and agreed on the necessary steps for preparing the next programming period. In this context, the Monitoring Committee will coordinate the programming process for the post-2027 period.
The Monitoring Committee endorsed retaining of the Managing Authority within the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration of Romania, which currently ensures the management of the Interreg NEXT Romania–Republic of Moldova Programme 2021–2027. The Committee also granted the necessary mandate to initiate the programming process for the next programming period.
The meeting brought together representatives of central, regional and local public authorities from Romania and the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the National Authorities of both countries, the Managing Authority, as well as representatives of the European Commission.
On the second day of the meeting, participants will visit projects funded under the Programme. These visits will showcase the results achieved through cross-border cooperation in areas such as education and emergency management, providing concrete examples of the impact of European investments and the added value generated by cooperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
